HEGNA, KNUT K., farmer, section 33, Vernon Township, is a native of Telemarken,
Norway, and was
born April 11, 1854. He was reared on a farm and educated in the district schools.
In 1874 our subject
was united in marriage to Ingabor, daughter of Ole and Anna Leerns, and to this
union eleven children
have been born of whom eight survive as follows: Kittel, Ole, Anna, Clara, Mattie,
Ella, Selma, Ingwald
and Oscar. Those dead are Matilda, aged 18 years and Knut, who died in infancy. Mr.
Hegna is a
member of none of the fraternal orders. In politics he affiliates with the
republicans. He has been
prominent in the affairs of his locality, having held the position of school officer
several years. The
family are members of the Evanger Norwegian Lutheran Church. He is one of Vernon
township's well-
respected pioneer citizens. [page 107]
