HILLSON, GUTTORM, farmer, Westfield Township, Section 32, is a native of Norway, and
was born Dec.
17, 1828. He was raised on a farm and educated in the district schools. He came to
this county from
Wisconsin in 1855, and settled in Westfield, being one of the first settlers of that
township. In 1857 our
subject was united in marriage to Jean Christianson, daughter of Christian
Christianson, and native of
Norway, and to this union eight children have been born, of whom all are living, as
follows: Inger,
Helen, Christ, Henry, Caroline, Rachel Marie, and Thomas B. In politics Mr. Hillson
affiliates with the
Republican party. The family are members of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Mr.
Hillson is the owner
of 2xx acres of land, 150 of which is under cultivation, the balance timber,
including the river which
flows through it. [page 108]
