HIMLE, OLE E., farmer, Vernon Township, Section 10, is a native of the farm on
which he resides, and
was born Nov. 21, 186X. He was reared on a farm and educated in the district
schools. In 1881 our
subject was united in marraige to Christina Boyum, who was born Oct. X, 1859,
daughter of Knut
Boyum, a prominent farmer of Canisteo Township, and to this union nine children have
been born, of
whom seven survive, as follows: Salma A., was born Oct. X, 1885, Cora C., was born
Jan. 25, 1889,
Ervin G., was born Jan. 3, 1893, Obert C., was born Oct 27, 1895, Arthur I., was
born Dec. 11, 18XX,
Arnold E., was born Jan. 27, 1902., Myrtle L., was born Sep. 8, 190X. Two daughters
died in infancy. Mr.
Himle is a member of none of the fraternal orders. In politics he affiliates with
the Republicans. He has
been prominent in the affairs of his community, having held various positions of
minor importance. The
family are members of the Norwegian Lutheran church. The parents of our subject,
Erick Clausen Himle,
came to Wisconsin in 185X and Susan (Qualle) Himle, emigrated from Norway to
Wisconsin in 1846X.
They came to Vernon Township, this county, in 1857. when there were but few white
people in the
county. They assisted in the development of the county from a wilderness to the
splendid county of
today. The father was one of the most prominent of citizens of his day, and was
identified with most of
the enterprises of the county that were of a public nature. He was a member of the
State Legislature.
