HOLSTENSEN, H. T., farmer, Westfield Township, came to this county in 1895, and
located in Westfield
Township. He was born in Clayton County, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1858, to Thorkel and Anna
Holstensen, who
were farmers there. His youth was spent upon the farm, and he was educated in the
Decorah, Iowa,
schools. He married Betsey Reierson in 1884, and their home has been brightened by
the birth of six
children, Nettie, Thomas, Henry, Edwin, Oscar, and Blanche. Mr. Holstensen is a
Republican and
affiliates with the Lutheran Church. As a public official he has served in the
office of supervisor for four
years, and member of the school board for seven years. Four nine years our subject
was engaged in the
hardware and implement business at Elgin, Iowa. Since locating in this county
xxxxxxxx occupied in
tilling his 200-acre farm and in attending to his stock, of which he has a fine
herd. He is one of the
many substantial farmers of Westfield Township. [page 108]
