THORSNESS, OLE O., retired farmer, Hayfield, was born March 20, 1834 in Norway. He
is a son of Ole
and Aagaote Thorsness. At the age of thirteen he came to Columbia county, Wis.;
three years in Monroe
county, Wis., and in 1863, came to Vernon township, this county. Our subject was
educated in the
public schools of Norway. He was married in 1857 to Betsy Peterson, a daughter of
Peter and Anna
Peterson, and to this union nine children have been born of whom the following
survive: Oliver, Anna,
Andrew, Lena, Louise and Mary. The deceased being Peter, Emma and Peter. Mr.
Thorsness is a
Republican and is a member of the board of supervisors of his town. He has undergone
the hardships
of pioneer life in three states, Wisconisn, Iowa, and Minnesota, and is today the
owner of a valuable
farm comprising 280 acres of good land in Vernon township, which is well equipped
with buildings and
other improvements. [page 120]
