THRONSON, BAARD E., farmer, section 8, Vernon township, is one of the pioneers of
this county, having
settled in the township of Vernon in 1858. He was born March 6, 1838, in
Bergenstift, Norway. In his
youth he worked on the farm and attended the district school. He was married in 1861
to Miss Oline
Iverson, the daughter of Iver Iverson Sylverness, a prominent citizen of this
county. They are the
parents of sixteen children: Gjertine, Maria, John Edwin, Helena, Isaac, Susie B.,
Cecelia, Clara, Tominie
and Joseph. The dead are Dorthie and Josefie (adults and were married), and four
infants. Our subject is
a Lutheran, and a Republican. He has been elected to the following positions of
trust, in all of which his
services gave eminent satisfaction to his fellow citizens: Township chairman,
assessor, justice of the
peace and other minor positions. He is the owner of 210 acres of good land. Our
subject has lived a
strenuous life and in peace and quiet he now spends the evening therof, surrounded
by his children
and grandchildren and great-grand-children, all of whom delight to do him honor.
