TVERBERG, CARL J., farmer, section 10, Vernon township, was born in Dane County,
Wis., Oct. 31, 1858.
He came to this county with his parents in 1859, and has since continued to reside
her. His parents,
John P. and Gro P. Tverberg, were well known pioneer settlers here, the father a
farmer and blacksmith
by trade. Our subject was reared on a farm, and sent to the public school, and later
to St. Olaf's college
at Northfield, Minn. In 1886 he was married to Randi K. Boyum, a daughter of Knut
Boyum, a prominent
farmer of Canisteo township, this county. They have an adopted daughter, Clara
Ocelia by name. The
family of our subject affiliates with the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Mr. Tverberg is
a Democrat and has
served the public in the capacity of town chairman, town treasurer and secretary of
St. Olaf's Lutheran
Church society. He is the owner of 160 acres of good land and is one of the well
known and respected
citizens of the township. Besides farming Mr. Tverberg has been in the grain
threshing business for
thirty-one years. He at first owned a horsepower outfit, but is now the owner, in
company with others,
of a "Red River Special" outfit, and threshes most of the grain throughout this
section of the county.
