TVERBERG, JOHN J., farmer, section 12, Vernon township, is one of the pioneers of
this county, having
settled in the township of Vernon in 1859. He was born March 8, 1852, in Dane
County, Wisconsin. IN
his youth he worked on the farm and attended the district school. He was married in
1878 to Miss Mary
O. Strand, the daughter of Ole Strand, a well-known citizen of Vernon township. They
are the parents of
five children: John J., Jr., Nettie G. and Minnie J. survive, while Nettie and Alma
L. died in infancy. Our
subject is a Republican in politics. He has been engaged in the grain threshing
business for several
years in addition to his farming interests. He is the owner of 120 acres of land,
well located and well
improved, and is a citizen of high moral standing in the township. The family
affiliates with the
Lutheran Church. [page 120]
