WILSON, ELLIS L., farmer, Vernon township, section 22, was born on a farm in the
same township Oct
25, 1860. His parents, Louis and Betsy (Bratager) Wilson, were both natives of
Norway. Our subject was
reared on a farm and sent to the public schools of his native township. In 1883 he
was married to Eliza
Mohn, a daughter of Elling Mohn. She died in 1897, and our subject in 1902 married
again, the bride
being Susie (Heltne) Syverts, the widow of Knute Syverts. By the first marriage
three children were born:
lawrence E., Paul G. and Benjamin M. By the second marriage two children have been
born:, Ella K. and
Esther P. The family of our subject affiliates with the Norwegian Lutheran Church.
Mr. Wilson is a
Republican in politics and has served in the capacity of assessor, supervisor,
various school offices and
as director of the Farmers' Elevator and of the Farmers' Telephone Company. He is
the owner of 160
acres of land. His residence of forty-five years in the county classes him among the
pioneers. [page
