WILLIAM A. TERRY was born June 16, 1860, in Hart County, Ky., where he
lived until about four years of age, when he was brought by his parents
to Barren County, and located at Hiseville, where he lived about ten
years; then removed, in 1876, to his present home, about two miles
northwest of Hiseville. His father, James E. Terry, was born December
27, 1829, in Barren County. He began life as a merchant, and afterward
engaged in farming. He was one of the active and influential citizens
of his section, and was for some time a magistrate and a member of the
court of claims of Barren County. He was a son of Alfred and Sally
(Young) Terry. James E. Terry married, June 15, 1859, Jane, daughter of
Samuel and Clarinda (Hall) Harlow. She was born August 26, 1832, in
Barren County, where she has since resided, except for a few years spent
in Hart County. To them have been born William A., Samuel E. and Mary
D. William A. is a farmer, and with his mother a member of the
Christian Church. In politics he is a Democrat.
