DAVID N. VANCE, a native of Belfast, Ireland, was born in 1850, arrived
at New York in 1869, located at Carrollton, Ky., in October, 1877, and
took charge of John Howe & Sons' Bank; in December, 1883, he became
cashier of the National Bank of Carrollton, which bank, in 1886, was
made a United States depository, N. M. Winslow being its president, and
Mr. Vance its cashier, with $60,000 capital stock. The bank has now a
surplus of $2,000, and its average deposits amount to about $55,000.
Mr. Vance was married in New York in 1871, to Miss Hagan, a native of
this city. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, is a Royal
Arch Mason, and Odd Fellow and Knight of Pythias. He owns a fine
residence in Carrollton, is a thorough business man, and an enterprising
