J. WALLER RODES, deceased, born in Scott County, Ky., March 17, 1817, is a
son of William Rodes, a Colonel in the war of 1812, who came to Fayette
County when still comparatively young; for a number of years was a member
of the State Legislature, and died in 1856.
His son, J. Waller, was united in marriage, in 1850, to Sarah E., a
daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Evans) Marshall, the latter of a family
who came early to Kentucky from Virginia.
The husband died June 21, 1878; the wife is still living.
One son, William, born January 1, 1851, was educated at Kentucky University;
graduated in February, 1876, , at the college of Physicians and Surgeons,
Baltimore, Md.; was resident physician at Baltimore for two years, and has
since been in practice in his native county.
The other son, J. Waller, born in 1856, was also educated at Kentucky
University, and has been Deputy Sheriff of the county for about six years.
