WILLIAM C. REA, farmer and stock grower, is a native of Switzerland County,
Ind., and was born May 29, 1844. His father, Ambrose Rea, a native of
South Carolina, was born about 1812. He married Loudis A. Carver, of
Switzerland County, Ind., daughter of William and Judah (Clark) Carver,
of Garrard County, Ky., and four sons were born to their union, the
subject of this sketch being the eldest. William C. Rea has two farms of
328 acres in Gallatin County, Ky., which he successfully manages. He
was taken to that county in 1846 by his parents, who settled near Warsaw;
he settled at his present location in Sparta District in 1878. He was
married, December 2, 1863, to Frances J. Castleman, of Gallatin County, a
daughter of Lewis Castleman. One son and three daughters were born to
their union: Mary A. (deceased), Ambrose, Ellison M. and Relda. Mr.
Rea is a Democrat and a Master Mason.
