DR. A. V. MENEFEE comes of prolific stock. He has five brothers and one
sister. He is a son of S. G. and Missouri (Vallandingham) Menefee. His
father was a farmer and the Doctor received most of his early education
in the common schools of the county. He went to college one year, after
which he taught two terms in the country schools of this county. He
attended the Louisville Medical and the Kentucky Medical Colleges, and
was graduated in 1892. He was vice-president of his class and received
a gold medal for his knowledge of materia medica and therapeutics. He
took a two-months' course in the Opthalmic Hospital, in Cincinnati, and
took a special course on eye, ear, nose and throat diseases. He began
practicing his profession at Dry Ridge, and soon built up a fine practice
in that neighborhood, but being of a rambling disposition he soon changed
his location to Delia. He has practiced at a number of points in Grant
County. About a year ago he located at Williamstown, where he has been
since. His practice here has grown to large proportions. He has earned
the confidence of the people of Williamstown and vicinity, and has proven
himself a master of his profession. He is Secretary of the U. S. Pension
Board of Grant County, a member of the Knights of Pythias, and of the
Red Men and Masonic Lodges. He is a member of the Christian Church. Dr.
Menefee was married to Miss Ada May Johnson in 1893. One child, a bright
boy of seven, is the result of this union.
