ORLANDO C. ALLEN was born July 2, 1852, in Adair County, Ky. At the age
of three years he came with his parents to Cumberland County, Ky.; in
1879 to Barren County, and about three years afterward to Metcalfe
County while he still resides. His father, Norman Allen, was born in
Cumberland County about 1821, where he now resides. His is a son of
George Allen, who was born in Virginia about 1794, and whose father,
Joseph Allen, a Virginian, was a soldier in the Revolutionary war and of
English descent. Norman Allen, married, about 1844, Amanda, daughter of
Noah and Elizabeth (Carter) Turk. To this union were born Amelia
(deceased), Lewis (deceased), Jane (Young), Orlando C., George, Hettie
(Allen), William, James (deceased), and Earna (Stockton). Orlando C.
married, May 27, 1877, Sarah, daughter of Bennett and Martha (Hutchens)
Greer. Mr. Allen is the owner of a first rate steam saw and grist-mill
on the Horse Cave Road in Metcalfe County, which he has acquired by his
own industry. He is a moral man, a believer in the doctrines of the
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and in politics a Democrat.
