NEUELL R. BEAUCHAMP was born near Edmonton, Metcalfe Co., Ky., November
18, 1844, and is the second of four children born to John W. and
Henrietta S. (Rogers) Beauchamp. Mrs. Henrietta Beauchamp was born in
what is now Metcalfe County, Ky., January 20, 1820, and her death
occurred June 2, 1875. She was a life-long and devoted member of the
Cumberland Church. Neuell R. Beauchamp received a good common school
education in youth; he was employed on his father's farm until he was
twenty years old, when he embarked in general merchandising with his
brother, E. R. Beauchamp, at Edmonton, and continued that business until
March, 1870, when he sold out to his brother, and commenced to learn the
jeweler's trade in Glasgow, serving an apprenticeship of two years. He
then opened a silversmith shop at Edmonton, Metcalfe County, and has
continued that business in connection with farming ever since. He is
doing a good business at his trade, and is also a successful farmer. He
is yet unmarried; is a devoted and consistent member of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, in which he was for many years a ruling elder, and
was also a teacher in the Sunday-school for some ten years. He is also
an earnest advocate of the temperance cause, and was formerly a member
of the I. O. G. T. In politics he is a Democrat, and is one of the
enterprising and successful young business men of the county.
