NOBLE F. NASH, M. D., was born near Bagdad, Shelby Co., Ky., September
2, 1831, a son of Harmon and Sarah (Gates) Nash, natives of Shelby County.
His grandfather, Noble Nash, was a native of Maryland, of English descent,
and settled near Bagdad prior to 1800. His maternal grandfather, Elijah
Gates, was a native of Georgia, came to Shelby Co., a little later than
Grandfather Nash, and settled near Christiansburg. Harmon Nash was born
in 1803. Noble F. Nash was reared on a farm, and began to read medicine
in 1849 at Christiansburg. In the fall of 1850 he entered the medical
department of the Louisville University, graduated in 1853, and in the
same year began practice at Drennon Springs, Henry County, Ky., where he
remained ten years. He then located at Clay Village, where he has since
practiced. Dr. Nash married, in 1856, Miss Jennie Phillips, who died in
the spring of 1864. In 1866 he married Mrs. Emily (Guthrie) Shindler, a
native of Shelby County, and a daughter of Thomas C. Guthrie, deceased.
Mr. Guthrie was also a native of Shelby County, and a prominent citizen,
a son of James Guthrie, a native of Virginia and a pioneer of Shelby
County. To Dr. and Mrs. Nash three children were born: Lula, Katie and
Willie. Dr. Nash is one of the most skillful physicians in the county,
and has a lucrative practice.
