JOE A.  ADKINS

     Joe A. Adkins is another pioneer of McCulloch, having lived here the past 43 years.  A native of Lamar county, Texas, where he was born September 12, 1864, Mr. Adkins was for a time located in Lampasas county, coming to the growing town of Brady in February, 1893.  For many years he was engaged in the practice of law, and he also served as McCulloch county judge for several years.
     Mrs. Adkins is a native of Tennessee, having been born December 22, 1870, at Tazewell, Tenn., and where she was married to Mr. Adkins on June 12, 1889.  Two months after Mr. Adkins located in Brady, she joined him here in April, 1893, and they have made their home here continuously since.  Children born to Mr. and Mrs. Adkins are Evans, now county judge, Hubert, Gerald, Walter, John and Jim Adkins, and Mrs. Mary Jo Powell, all of Brady.
