He was born 29 November 1870 at Quitman, Texas; located in McCulloch County
20 August 1893; worked in the cattle industry until 1906; as local Gulf
agent for six years as well as being in the feed business a part of the
time until 1919. In that year he engaged in the grocery business
and continued therein until 1932. He served for a time as city secretary,
beginning in April of 1934. Some years prior to that service, he
served one term as alderman.
He claimed to have had a hand in breaking up some late fence cutting operations
in McCulloch County around 1897. He was a member of the Methodist
Church, a Mason, and a member of the W.O.W.
Charlie Allen, on 22 June, 1898, married the well-known and well-loved
Brady school teacher, Miss Rosa Finlay.
