ERNEST AMARINE FAMILY

    The patriarch of the Amerine family was Walter Leander Amerine born in Cleber County, Ala, in 1870.  Arriving in Texas, he met and married Martha Jane Jones, born in Comanche in 1875.  Their seven children were: Eunice, Eula, Ernest, Jack, Elzie, May, Emma and Alpha.
    The eldest daughter, Eunice, married Fred Dobbs from Katemcy.  Her daughter-in-law, Esteleene Dobbs, taught school at Lohn for several years.  They are also related to the Durst family in Mason County.
    Eula married Bud Frost, Ernest married Jessie Dell Coonrod;Jack married Vera (Moody) Tetens from an immigrant German family; Mae married Warren Holland and Sam Watson; Ray married Albert Heath and Alpha married W. B. Jones.
    At least six children of the Ernest Amarine family attended school at Lohn.  Juanice Amarine was the last to graduate in 1953.
    There is not an extensive history available on the Amerine family.
