Jefferson
Peter Baze, Jr., born in McNairy County, Tennessee, 21 June 1844,
died in Brady, Texas 10 January 1914; married (1) Sarah_____ on 18 October
1866, and (2) Elizabeth F. Whisenhunt on 6 August 1868.
1st wife: Sarah was b. 22 August 1849 and died October 1867. She
bore one child, Florence, born 11 October 1867 and died on 19 February
1868.
Elizabeth was born 10 February 1853; d. January 1926.

The parents of Elizabeth Whisenhunt were Martha M. and Peter W. Whisenhunt,
both of whom were born in Georgia, he 25 March 1827, and she on 15 June
1830. He died 3 January 1884 and she 8 December 18__.
The parents of Jefferson Peter Baze were Delilah Julian, b. 13 October
1813; died 10 October 1884, and Jefferson, b. 6 May 1816; d. 2 October
1874. He is buried in Smithwick Cemetery of Burnet County, Texas;
she at Red Rock in Bastrop County, Texas.
Jefferson Peter Baze had brothers in McCulloch County, D. P. and Tom.
J. P., at one time, in addition to operating his stock-farm, operated a
store in the rock building now owned by Camp San Saba Lodge No, 555 A.F.
and A.M.
J. P. and Elizabeth Baze came to Camp San Saba in 1876, and there acquired
land and established a home. He was a member of the Church of Christ,
several Masonic orders and was keenly interested in education.
He joined General Price’s command in the second year of the War Between
the States and served through the remainder of that conflict.
