Funeral services for Mrs. Kid (Lorena) Jeffers, Antlers, Okla., were conducted
at 2:30 Monday, May 30th in the first Methodist Church in Antlers, with
Rev. James N. Cook of Wake Village, Ark., officiating.
Burial was in the Antlers City Cemetery. Pallbearers were her six
grandsons, Rod Jeffers, Brad Jeffers, Hal Jeffers, Eddie Jeffers, Robert
Jeffers and James Jeffers. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers were designated
as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Jeffers died Saturday, May 28, in Pushmataha Hospital after a short
illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Pence
AND WAS BORN NEAR bRADY ON jUNE 16, 1884. She was married to Kid
Jeffers Sept. 25, 1910 at the Pence home north of Brady. They moved
to Anthlers in 1948 and made their home just south of Antlers.
She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church and participated in affairs
of the Woman's Society of Christian Service for many years.
Mrs. Jeffers is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Dee Jeffers,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Harry Jeffers, Antlers; two daughters, Mary
Jeffers and Mrs. Stella Olson, both of Antlers; the six grandsons and one
granddaughter, Jan Jeffers, one sister, Mrs. Estella Crew, Brady; and two
brothers, Omer D. Pence of Brady and W. B. Pence of San Angelo.
Among those attending the service were her niece, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lewis
Bryson and nephew, Bill Crew, all of Brady. Also attending was C.
H. Bratton of Rochelle. Mr. Bratton served as best man at the wedding
of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers and was also a guest at the couple's Golden Wedding
Anniversary in 1960.
